I just got 6 new condensers

I bought them off Ebay for 10 bucks including shipping. Its six condensers made by accel the coil company. These look like they will fit in the MG distributor just fine, the only difference is that instead of a mount made on the condenser itself, these have a clamp that goes around it and screws down.

That mount is the style we use to get in the 60s.

No question in my mind that you have a life time supply.

Would you considered sacrificing one of those and mailing it to Sarastro for dissection? It would be interesting to see how the insides of the Accel condensers compare to the Lucas types he took apart and posted pictures of in a thread that ran earlier this month.

I hate to part with one. I got two boat motors, the MG, a motorcycle and a lawn mower that this will all work in, plus my dad has some stuff that will work with these, so it won't be a lifetime supply. If it was just for the spridget then yeah, I would have plenty. I got to thinking about not being able to get good condensers and so started looking for something that might work in everything I have. Hey guys if you want some of these, here is the Ebay auction for more of them. Maybe Sarastro might want to buy a few as well. I always keep two new condensers in my tool bag in the MG for me and whomever else might need one.

I just purchased the condensers. As soon as they arrive I will send one off to Sarastro. There is still a set of 12 in the sellers e-bay store.

All gone.

Hopefully the seller has more.

Jack,

If the examination is positive I guess we will find out who are friends are. LOL I'll share if there are no more. I grabbed them for BCF folks.

Phil

Even if the seller has sold out and never gets any more, that may not be terrible. If Sarastro says these look better than what he's examined so far, we should be able to source these (when needed) from the generic tune-up parts on the walls of our local big-box auto parts stores. They always seem to have a good supply of Accel parts at Advance Auto and AutoZone.

I have an extra condenser from Jeff. Wonder about it, not that I have had any probs with the one installed from Autozone.

They look like they will fit the MG, I have not put one on yet but they way things have been going it should not be long. Glad you got some startech47, at less than 10 bucks for six, its not too big a gamble. I hope they are good quality, I will be awaiting the results of Sarastros condenser autopsy.

Keep in mind, you need a specific value. The spec is 0.18 to 0.25 microfarads. Probably most are within this range--after all, they all use the same coils, so the caps have to be all in about the same range. Still, if they don't work, this might be the reason.

If anyone wants me to dissect another, I'll be happy to do it. Address, again, is PO Box 7824, Long Beach, CA 90807.
