I registered for Miss Agathas first car show.

There are 53 classes and I am told usually 300 or so cars. Wife says I got to have one of those shade things.

Good luck, Jack. Make us proud!

Jack,

Have fun, but don't expect much. I still go to "American Iron" shows occasionally, but I don't show my car in competition. You'll probably get lumped into the "Foreign" class and be with a mixed bag of cars. The last "Hot Rod" show I particiapated in, I was beat by a 2006 BMW Z4. Now that is pretty silly. I pretty much only show my car in British Car shows these days. If the show has 6 divisions for mustangs, corvettes or carmeros I know not to enter.

But on the other hand, you'll learn alot by showing your car and car shows are fun!

Jack, I wish you the best, it should be fun to do once at least. Maybe you will be fortunate & they will have an award just for you!

The last one of those shows I went to had about 650 cars from all corners of the USA. They DID have an award, singular, for "Best Sport Compact/Import" which I managed to take home. The sheer number of very expensive/exotic street rods, track cars, dragsters, antiques, was overwhelming. Took most of a day to see them all. Didn't go this year, once was enough.

This is only about 15 miles from the house and the timeing was right. Weather will break sometime in Sep and I am going to pull the engine.

My local buds the Model A club are joint hosts so I needed to show the colors.

I expect nothing as I have no idea of what to expect, I do not expect any other Bugeyes as to my knowledge there are not any.

Maybe they will put me here, Foreign Minor 3-4-6 Cylinder, but I have really no clue, I bet I get a Brit division next year.

The only prep I am going to do is a wipe down, she is clean.

In any case it should be fun and an experience.

Definitely! Sorry, if I sounded too negative. It's just have had several bad experiences showing my car at those type of shows. But yeah, gearheads are gearheads and I do have fun looking at the cars and talking with the guys.

Enjoy yourself and have fun!

Good luck, Jack - have a great time, the results don't matter, we all know how great Miss Agatha is!

Most "open" shows will be predominantly American iron; you will likely have a class for "import", "sportscar", or "other". Don't let that deter you. The North Georgia Mercedes Club hosts a very nice show here in Athens, GA once a year. Since it's hosted by the Merc club there are like 20+ classes for Mercedes, then Ford-prewar, Ford-postwar...for all major US manufacturers, and then "Sportscars". Thats where my MG Midget was placed, along with Mustangs, Corvettes, one each '56 and '57 T-Bird, etc. Two years ago the Midget didn't place...last year "Best In Class"...go figure. If you take home something, fine, if not, fine...just have a good time and stay near the car as much as possible. You'll find with LBCs a LOT of folks with the "My uncle Jack had one..." or "my first boyfriend", or "when I got out of the service" stories. You'll also hear about ALL the problems with LuCUSS electrics from folks who never knew it was positive ground!

One other thing I've observed, pleasantly so, over several years of showing. While the guys are walking around, many in sleeveless T-shirts, talking about rear-wheel horsepower, and ETs, and top loaders...their wives, girlfriends, dates are checking out the LBC..."oh it's so cute"..."I just LOVE it"..."can I sit in it".

Be accomodating...life is good /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Jack, Miss Agatha is in a class by herself, and judging by that list, in my book, should be the star of the show!! All that American iron will melt together in peoples minds, but Miss A will stand out!! Have fun and stay out of that hot sun as much as you can...don't forget the cooler!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Jack

That sounds like fun, enjoy. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif

Make sure she is well attended around all of the American Iron. Ya don't want her finding a big greazy boy friend. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Good luck Jack, I'm sure you'll wipe the floor with them!

Go get that little tent shade thingee that Lowe's has to pop over her...carry a couple of lawn chairs & some cold beverages & have fun, Jack!

Jack, prepare yourself to hear "Are you gonna put a 350 in that thing?" or such variations as "You can put a 350 in that thing, right?" and "That thing sure would fly with a 350." You will hear this a lot.

In my experience the average casual fan of American Iron is unaware that any motor besides the "350" was ever produced. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

When it grows up it will have an alum 429 and be a Cobra.
