This August I hope to be in Wyoming, north of Cheyenne, to hopefully photograph the total eclipse. This will be my second total eclipse. The first was back in the (I think) 77 when we were in Great Falls, MT and in the path of totality.

Anyone else planning t travel to see the event if you're not already in the path?
 
Actually, I'd like to see an eclipse myself.

Worry is that there will be bazillions of people anywhere in the path.

Hard to imagine that there would ever be bazillions of people anywhere north of Cheyenne...
 
It's going to be right over my house at 2:43pm.
we're calling it Shermans eclipse.
 
So Basil, you'll be in Wyoming for the eclipse? There's an interesting precedent. Back in 1878, Thomas Edison had gone to Battle Lake WY (near Cheyenne) to watch the July 29 eclipse. In a free moment, he took a look at the fibers of a bamboo fishing pole.

Which he later chose for making the first long-lasting light bulb filament - from carbonized bamboo fiber!

On a photography forum I frequent some guy actually posted that he didn't see what all the fuss was - you can watch it on TV!
 
Weather looks "unsettled" for Wyoming, and several other places along the path of eclipse totality on Monday.

But remember - even if it's pouring, you can still see the complete eclipse if you're flying *above* the clouds. And clouds rarely go higher than commercial aircraft these days.

Just sayin' ...

Why is that Tom? FAA regulations? Is it a lack of nutrition or is the gas not as good as it used to be? just curious. :whistle:
