Today I bought a new convertible and it is a BAC (Big American Car for those of you who don't talk the talk), a 68 Cadilac Coupe DeVille. I'm sorry, I was weak; I understand if you want to revoke my LBC card. I'll go stand in the corner.

Seriously though, it is great for having a family of six and having a convertible. We can load up all the kids and go to the drive-in, or go for a weekend drive with everyone and have that top down driving experience. We drove it over to Sonic in Elgin earlier and had three people stop us to compliment it, so I do think it was a good purchase. Plus that 472 has a great exhaust note.
 
I don't know what you are talking about it only needs to be filled up every 20 or so miles.

Of course, if that concerned you, your next choice in better mileage would be a motor home....
 
I have had similar urges, but will probably give in to my urges to by something Italian or even French first. Would love to have a big old boat from the late 50s to early sixties, long low and wide! A presentable original would be fine, lot of real estate to cover in restoring those things, I have enough trouble getting body panels straight on itty bitty foreign cars.
 
Ok, here is a picture from the Fletcher fair parade today. My youngest, Leila, is the Sr. class mascot so got to ride in the parade. It rained on us but we had a good time anyway. You can only see my arm in this photo, and you can't see my wife. You can see Leila on the passenger rear, and the other mascot, Phoenix next to her along with his grandma in the driver's rear.

The old car is in fairly good original shape, but it is showing its age.

Still looks great! And I presume a car that big has its own Zip code?
 
Great ol' car! Brings back lots of memories of the '60s and '70s.

If there was ever a perfect "parade car" - that's it!
 
A buddy of mine had one, just like yours Walter, only his was white. His dad had tons of money! Looked real cool in a parade with all those gorgeous cheer leaders piled all over it! :highly_amused: PJ
 
Looks pretty good from that distance. Great parade car.
 
I blew up the photo and can see the tow hooks in the front bumper. Good option.
But, it would take about fifty Honda50's in harness to pull it on level ground.....

It ain't no lousy Ford, this baby is a Cadillac; it don't need tow hooks.

Nice! You can have the best of both worlds, as you could pack the LBC in the trunk.

I've always had a soft spot for big Detroit convertibles from about '65 - '75. I think '67 and '68 are my favorite years. Being able to take the whole family is a good thing. The options are fairly limited in that regard in LBC world.

Ultimately that was the deciding factor. I love LBCs but I can only ever take one person with me for a drive. With the Caddy we can comfortably load all six of us up, the trunk has plenty of room for my son's wheelchair, and we can go out for the day.
