...I just agreed to put a neighbor's '69 VW bug into running condition. Gonna push it to th' hovel in the next day or two.

This is gonna be a bucket of worms.

Deja vu, Dude!

I'd more figure on rust, grease, caked on oil, frozen bolts... though I suppose down in Florida it could have been sitting in a swamp for a while.

One friend (Independent Mercedes shop owner) asked me how I knew when to "pull th' string". I laughed and told him I'd not figured that out YET...
but when I did I'd show up and let him know how to do it. I'm not the only one. :smirk:

Bugs is easy, Doc!

I ~remember~ 'em as such, Tony. That's why I said I'd do it... but I ain't 25 anymore.

We'll see. This ain't over. It ain't even STARTED yet. Should be some high entertainment to follow.

I envy your drive. I just can not find time to keep mine fixed. Maybe after my next trip over seas I will put in my retirement... nah maybe two more trips, by then I will be set to just hang out and fix my car all day

Only one thing to say Doc......PICS, LOTS and LOTS of PICS!!!

Oh, and by the way, when you're done the VW, I have this Midget....

We're just finishing a total teardown, rebuild and reassembly on a 59 sliding rag-top bug. Inner scrapers and felts go in today as well as door glass..then door panels. New seat covers should be here today and after new carpets are finished we'll pop on the custom alum. ribbed running boards and we'll be done.

Right down to my coffee makin' techniques!

I remember when I got my first Beetle. I was astonished at how awkward and difficult the little thing was to work on. Hunkered down under that door, reaching way back through layers of sheetmetal. Not as I'd envisioned at all.

If it comes down to any engine work, there's four "magic bolts" and some wires 'n a fuel line...

just so I keep me toes out from under.

<*THUD*>

"'s out!"

Cut my teeth on 'em. Got to where co-workers at the bank (one of the jobs that helped put me through college) would bring theirs over to me for tune-ups and oil changes.

Fond memories, those...

Geesh! And according to Woody Allen (in Bananas), you just turn the key and they go!!

Only if ya do it on a regular basis.
