Finally after two years, I got the engine back into the Herald today! It lost almost all power a few months after I got the car. When I pulled the head off I found that the cyl walls were shot, and already at 0.6 oversize.
Now I have a different block (which I also had to bore out to 0.6 over) Almost EVERYTHING that wears in the engine is new or like new.
While then engine was out, I also got a bit of shipwrights disease, and redid both the front and rear suspension, brakes steering.... and then got fed up with the whole thing for a while.
Anyway since I don't have a lift, we picked up the engine with a long beam, and just dropped it in place! Next week I will hopefully get some time to continue.

Well, it's 3:45am here in China. I'm on a business trip and still get to keep in touch on the BCF. Please post some photos if you can. Makes the nights more interesting for us weary travelers. Keep up the good effort.

WOHOO! Well done!

Pix would be great, but the "VROOM!" post is what I wanna see!!

Happy to add a picture. My engine lift is not exactly the pro model! worked quite well though. One of my neighbors gave an extra hand. My father is hiding behind the bonnet.
Much more challenging was getting the engine down 3 flights of stairs! All I can say is that my next flat will be either ground floor or with an elevator.
