Re: I didn't drive it today, but maybe by the week

That's a real beaut. That's tons better/smoother than the original body work and paint that came on these ol' cars! You'd put a stored original to shame.
[/ QUOTE ]Inasmuch as technology has made possible great leaps in finishes, not to mention the sheet metal forming and assembly that precedes the finishing, that might be true.
On the other hand, I first saw in the early 1980s a 1960 TR3A that had, at the time, somewhere between 3000-4000 ORIGINAL miles. It was, essentially, still a virtually new car, with everything except for fluids original. The car was black, with blue interior and white top/side curtains, wire wheels and Dunlop wide whites. Again, all orginal, and DROP-DEAD GORGEOUS. Were it not for the 30 years of damp storage my 50k mile, 99% original Herald convertible suffered before I bought it, that car would be about the same. They could, and DID, build some pretty nice cars back then; not every one of them, but a lot of them!
Oh, I next saw that same TR3A seven years ago. Still the same folks who had bought it from the original owner (actually his estate, or something like that). They'd been carefully using and enjoying the car, and it was beginning to show a bit of real wear. Still a stunning car, though.
