I bet Dr.E...

Our #2 Son is taking the bus back home to Tennessee.
He's supposed to be in Salt Lake City by now.
It made me check the weather - 12 degrees in Clarksville.
HOW cold is it Mickey?

- Doug

Well, here it is now 29°F and a "feels like" of 23°... Likely lost all the front yard vegitation, most of my "jungle" in the back. Won't really know for sure 'til tomorrow.

34* here at one hour later than your post, Doc. That's plenty cold enough for S.Fl.!!! Now to try and find more indoor work for today!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif

Sorry, Doug - was hibernatin' when you asked the question.

Officially 10, according to a local radio station. My outdoor thermometer said 14. Colder than a well-digger's...

...shovel. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/angel.gif

it was 9 according to the car this morning - so cold 1/2 the sensors registered faults of one kind or another. my dash looked like the space shuttle...

hopefully they'll all sort themselves out for the drive home - the beeping was driving me nuts.

Tony -

Your number for Nashville should be 14! THAT'S cold enough!!

Snowed enough to be seen this morning, and was "freezing" for a couple of hours. Now it's in the 50s. Big deal. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Tell it to th' Plant City fellas... and Ruskin. It wasn't as bad as the last one, but bad enuff.

Hey, it happens. Nearly every winter it gets cold. I'm sympathetic for the guys with the crops, but the news folks need to get real. It's a constant hype nowadays. I flipped on a local Orlando channel last night after 11 and they had a map of Florida showing the wind-chill warning areas and a massive crawler explaining that people should wear hats and gloves. You'd have thought we had a CAT-3 'cane bearing down on the area the way they had the graphics rolling. Imagine that, it's cold so you should wear a hat and gloves. Who'd a thunk it. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wall.gif

Someone actually captured video of the apocalyptic snow event in Daytona. All together now, ewwwwww -- ahhhhhh /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

That I can't argue. "Sky-is-falling" reporting is seemingly the only way they know how to present ANYTHING anymore.

My sister just flew home yesterday...to Nashville. I find it funny that it's now warmer here than there.

Wow, Scott! That was such an "impressive" amount of snow!! And they didn't even give us an update on the accumulation?? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

It got dramatically warmer last evening!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif (That's what I love about Fl., ...if you don't like the weather just wait a few hours!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif )

Tried the heater a couple days ago. Fired right up and I could smell the dust burning off. It worked a while then started blowing cold air. Opened up the handler to see that the coils were not glowing. It's probably a bad relay. Oh well, it may be 54 degrees in the house, but the heat on my waterbed works and I can put on another sweater.

mehheh. Geez, Rick! You're s'posed to TEST it more'n once a DECADE!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

We're lookin' at a rare 6 hour HARD FREEZE. Roughly 70% of the fresh veggies and fruits in grocery stores nation wide in the winter come from here... prices are gonna be a bit ~different~ this season because of tonight.
On your coast, ours come from CA and Mexico and CA is in for a heavy rain storm

Two words, Don:

Victory Gardens.

Yep!! Grow yer own!!!! (Unfortunately, Fl. is lousy for that, nought but sand!!) Now when I lived in the Garden State we had a KILLER garden! Of course we lived by Monmouth race track and had throughbred manure!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

One of Jerri's pride & joys is her raised bed garden area....we get all sorts of small veggies from it...right now there are winter onions & she says greens will soon start popping out.
