I am thinking of selling......

We have hit a point where decisions have to be made. The garage is full with no more room for projects. The B is running and needs just a nice paint job and new top. Young son is knocking at driving age and will soon be needing space to build his own driver. Before I move Idgy outside to the elements, I think it is time to sell him to someone else to enjoy.
The problem, I am having a hard time being "reasonable" about his price, so I am deferring to y'alls expertise

Body-paint has some chipping and minor areas. It is original paint that is 31 years old. Nothing major. NO RUST AT ALL.
Motor-(for those who remember)...completely rebuilt. New rings, pistons, rebuilt head etc. (The work was done by Ron McLeod, McLeod's British Cars in Maumelle, AR)
New weber downdraft carb.
New Monza exhaust
New carpet
New top
All guages work.
New shocks
New clutch and pressure plate

Mileage on body is 19,000.

It is a driver. I've driven it to and from work on nice days for the last year.

Is $5000 unreasonable?

dkllawson is looking for a car for his son....... this might be a match??

Might be a match, but I would think Doug would want an A-series. Which brings up an unfortunate point. The rubber bumper 1500s do not draw the attention of the chrome bumper A-series. However, I have seen a slight increase in price over the last few years. The other thing you have working in your favor is a current small car craze. What type of gas mileage can the car get?

Finally, is $5000 too much to ask? No, but it will take much longer to sell and you might have to come down off that price quite a bit to close the deal. Maybe you could ask closer to what you would be willing to take.

A better question might be: Do you have room in your garage for a lift?

The rubber bumpers have gained a little more value over the years. Seen some on Ebay go up and up.
The plus side it sounds like a great runner with zero rust.
A rare but great combination!
The down side is not only on the 1500 but other cars as well, its really tough to get out of it what you put in it. My 75 midget project is at the point of do I sink more into it or find one with less rust free etc. But lets stick to the topic...
Put it up for sale for the 5k you want and see what happens.
Best offers will give you an idea what you can get.

I took your advice and posted it. I set the rexerve for what I would like to get and we'll see. We have bought and sold several cars over the past few years on e-bay and usually do very well. The problem is, I fell in love and kept this one. I've been driving it and then adding little touches that quickly add up. I refuse to actually total up the reciepts in my folder. I have had fun with Idgy and I will truly hate to see him go.

where's the link or item #?

Its hard to let something go on something you have poured
blood, sweat and beers into. Car looks great to me.
Off to buy a lottery ticket!

I like it too, it reminds me of my second car, alot like my second car "becky".

Too far away ;(

That's the one!
Y'all are quick!

Hey guys, when I click that link, my security program slams the door and says it comes up as a fraudulent website.....possbily a virus attached or something else?

I'm having wierd things happen with e-bay tonight. I tried posting a link and it came up half loaded, when I tried to reload it says the url is not valid.
This link is being hinky too?
I think I;ll try shutting down and restarting explorer.

SOLD! I got what I was asking with no questions.....now I am wondering if I should have asked for more!
Actually posted it on Craig's list this time and got way more responses than on e-bay. Plus, I didn't have to wait seven days and deal with non-paying bidders. THanks for all of y'alls help with getting Idgy runing, driving and even sold. You are all a great bunch of guys!
Now, to get the B running soon so I don't miss too much convertable driving time.
Out to the garage I go......

Glad you got it sold easily, Terri. Sad to see it go, but now someone else will enjoy it and you can focus on the B.
