Hurricane's coming.

We've had zip here. This is the time of year that sometimes you can walk to the west side of I95 and get soaked for an hour, walk to the east side and its dry as a bone.

On top of that we've had heavy smoke settling in every morning reducing the vis to 2-3 miles...not terrible, but yech.

Tinster,
looks like a CAT-3 as it moves to your south. I'd leave the boat this weekend.
Wave heights on the South and East sides of the island ought to be impressive.
Landfall on the Yucatan as a 4?

Yo Baz !!

Yeah we're going to get a bunch of rain and 11
foot seas. Already growing windy and darkening sky.

My call is Dean will move a bit northern track and
landfall on Cuba. Then on to LA or TX as a 4.

There does seem to be more concensus that it may be a major hurricane when it enters the GOM.
I'll venture to guess somewhere close to where Erin came ashore.

Man, Texas is in a drought then its flooding from the hurricane - & there's another heading towards Corpus or Mexico!

SEND THE RAIN NORTH TO CENTRAL ARKANSAS!!!!!

pretty strange weather patterns here in the midwest as well... we set record rainfall the month of May...June-July record drought....now August is shaping up for another record rainfall...you guys south of here get it but unfortunately all coming down the rivers at once!!!

And we're gettin' 2"/hr. in the afternoons. *sheesh* Anybody got those plans? The ones for an "ark"?

Here it comes!!!

Someone needs to go tell the three people left in Arcadia Florida it's time to leave. We could be in for another four-in-a-row season and they seem to be the "crossroads" for those things.

Hurricane update

9:30 AM AST- Local island news reports St Lucia
has been ripped pretty badly by Dean. Winds
gusting to 110+ mph, torrential rain, heavy property
damage, loss of electrical system 100%. Most of their
infrastructure out of commission.

Storm warning posted for eastern and southern Puerto Rico.

Tinster's personally predicted track for Dean:

Yup, they are going to get clobbered.

An international marlin tournament begins out
of San Juan Saturday (tomorrow) morning. Here
is the latest wave height prediction graphic.
My boat's battened up tight and I'm staying
in the garage working on the TR. No fishing for me.

With the projected path ending up around Texas, if this storm is big watch out for gas prices again. Aren't there a bunch of off shore rigs, as well as refineries and other oil related things in that atrea?

If the turnip harvest in South Dakota is
below expectations-- the price of gasoline goes up.

The Way of things.

Wind is really beginning to howl now!! 1:00 PM Friday

Did you see the photos on TV of the fools in the Carribbean standing behind their plate glass windows trying to hold them from breaking in from the force of the wind...what, their 2 arms can withstand 100mph winds & keep a window from shattering?

Yup!! We are getting drenched pretty good
and the wind is still howling. Dean is one
huge storm. Those poor souls in Jamaica.
