So I'm about as much of a newbie as it gets. I'm new to this forum, I just bought my first Triumph and I've never done a restoration before. Yikes!

I've always loved Triumphs and I am very excited to finally have one of my own, a '63 Sports 6. The task seems a little daunting but having great resources will help a lot and this forum certainly seems like one!

I may not post for awhile (I have a LOT of reading to do before I jump in) but I wanted to go ahead and introduce myself.

Thanks, guys!

Good to have you aboard!

And it's great that you've picked a not-so-well-known model on which to cut your teeth.

WE NEED PICTURES!

Welcome to the asylum!

Not many Sports 6 around (less than 700 even made); and while I'm sure someone has told you it's the same thing as a Vitesse 6, that isn't quite true. There are numerous little differences, like the Sports 6 includes a temperature gauge that was not standard on the Vitesse equivalent and of course the logo on the back.

I had one for awhile, but eventually decided I had too many projects and sold it.

Hi Randall,

Thanks for the welcome!

I just lucked into this Sports 6 from a guy who had it for several years but decided to part with it for the same reason as you. An extra frame that is in much better shape was a part of the deal (along with a lot of miscellaneous parts) and the first task for me will be to get it sandblasted and powder coated. Once that's done......ummmm.....anyone got a Triumph Restoration for Dummies manual?!

We ARE the manual!

Well, the dummies, anyway...

Howdy Randall,

"Welcome" from the "Greenville, SC" area.

Personally, I`m not quite familiar with the "Sport 6" model but as you may already have found out; There are a whole bunch of folks in the Triumph Forum that probably are.

Have Fun & Best Wishes with Your Project.

Russ

Welcome to the forum, Okie! You seem to have 'lucked into' a good project. Saving it will be a real accomplishment. Too many of the "oddball" low or limited production LBC's get tossed over the side.

Now you're ~obligated~!! :jester:

Brer Mickey said it all. 'specially the part about th' pix.

Stick with the project and with us. Plenty of Triumph specific knowledge in the TR forum (and from that guy Randall, too. :jester: ) to draw from!

Looking forward to seeing you DRIVING it in the end!! :savewave:

Thank you all for the warm welcome, I really appreciate it!

I'll try to get a picture posted later today. And now, I would like to make my pledge...

I, OkieAbbott, do promise to always adhere to all forum rules as well as to the following self-imposed guidelines:

* I promise to always search the forum for answers before asking questions

* I promise to always post in the correct threads

* I promise to not correct any spelling or grammatical errors I find on here even though it is a major pet peeve of mine

* I promise to update you all with my progress, pictures included

* I promise to not give up on this endeavor! (Unlike my scrapbook with 1 page, latch hook rug that's been 25% complete for 10 years or my dusty sewing machine)---hmm, I see a theme there. I've always just wanted to get my hands dirty!

* And finally, I promise to not be intimidated by the fact that women are grossly underrepresented here. I have taken off my apron and I'm rolling up my sleeves!

(I better just apologize in advance, I'm kind of a goofball)

Oh, yeah - you're gonna fit in here just fine!

And your point is?

Welcome. :savewave:

I've always wondered : How do you feed & care for a pet peeve?
Kibbles & Bits?
Take it to the vet when it's nose is warm?

Don't worry too much about the rules; Basil knows the rest of us don't!

Ya ain't gonna like readin' my posts then, but I promise the info contain'd therein will usually make sense. :smirk:

...and we don't discriminate over gender. That's as much a warning as a declaration. We've had and have a number of female folks here, if you're willin' to roll up yer sleeves an' get grease under yer nails, you're one of us!

PS: judow's a gurl, BTW.
