How to smooth out a jumping fuel gauge?

I am not sure if all MGBs have the voltage stabilizer, but I know the later ones do, my 68 Triumph has one as well, Moss sells and improved version with modern electronics.

However, I was told it will not work with the older gas guages, different resistance range or something, there may be a way to put electical doodads into such a setup to make it work, but beyond my skill set.
