How to Remove MK VIII & MK IX Sunroof

I finally found out how to remove the sunroof. Slide it back a few inches. At the front of each side is a screw that secures a slide block in place. Remove the screws. Move the blocks toward the center of the car. Push up the center and then slide forward. There is a rectangular bar that the sunroof slides on running down the center. Once clear of the bar the panel can be lifted off toward the front of the car.

I have attached a photo that shows the underside of the panel after removal. the red frame is where the headliner attaches and is secured with screws along the front edge.
