Got our daughter her first car and it has a painted not vinyl graphic on the sides. Would like your input on how to go about removing it, please.

Thank you,

light paint stripper/ lacquer thinner? there should be clear coat underneath protecting the paint

It's not a big 2 digit number is it? Could be a little too much horsepower for her first car.

Like....53.... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif I KNEW IT! Ha Ha

Yes, it is a New Beetle. Started to confess that up front, but was hoping to be spared the grief. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif

No, it is not Herbie graphics, but a mix of four colors. Anyway, she does not like it, so........

It appears to have a clear coat over it. Do not know if they painted over a clear coat or if they sanded down and built up. It does look like they resprayed to base coat. Was thinking wet sand through the clear coat and then finish with the liquid, but not to sure on the grit to start and finish with.

New to the VW world and so far do not think there are very many car guys and gals over on the dark side. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif Hence, I came to where I know there were car folk.

Thanks for the input and any future input.

Oh, Stirkle, I am still laughing. Must admit it is fun to drive, but I am not going to trade in my LBC for one. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

The most fun car I ever owned was a 1968 VW Beetle. What a blast that car was, in the warm months. Heat was awful. They only had drift heat back then. I have not driven a new style Beetle, but I think they are built on the Golf chassis, so I know how the Golfs drive. NICE and smooth.
Just teach her the importance of driving safe.
Good luck

Go to a pin striper , lettering guy and ask him,

they will know what kind of paint it is and what might take it off....
