TR6 How to Import my TR6 from England?

Stick around...someone will pop in.

This might be a good question for the Jag or Healy forum as well.

And welcome to the club. Nice to have you here.

The good news is that Houston is a major port for such things and you don't have to go the West coast (thru the Panama Canal or around the Horn).

My only shipping experience was the Pacific so I'm afraid no helpful advice here.

I assume you have checked with the Texas DMV to see if they will register it...

I am fairly sure California will not.

The issue would not necessarily be state laws, assuming it is PI, you would have the pesky feds to deal with.

It would be a shame to get it here, and have the Feds refuse entry, or not be able to drive it because of the state.

Just as an option. There are lots of great TR6s for sale in the US for great prices right now. Why not just buy another in he states?

Welcome-

Just a few scattered comments and recommendations: consider joining the Hill Country Triumph club - good group there. If you do think a US purchased TR6 would be an option, we have 3 in our club here in Houston up for sale at the moment, just a short drive for you.

And last, just a potential warning which I don't have well documented - be careful how you import and if possible avoid any type of vin certification work in Houston - we've had two club members in the last year with bad experiences - the Texas DMV has the Houston Police department verify commission plates - if a restored Triumph is brought to them and they can see the plate was removed for painting they will refuse to verify the car.

In WA if the plates were removed for resto the car is given a temp tittle for a year or 2

My friend did it on a Gymalac

A 50's GMC pick-up with a Cadillac running gear and interior.
Was pretty upset when the Cops said the plates should never be removed
