How to differentiate 1275 engine vs smaller

I assumed the '60 Bugeye I have was the original 948 engine. Now, I saw a plate on the bottom left side that says 1275. At risk of sounding completely foolish, what else can I look at to confirm this?
 
Should have a number cast into the block, raised, just aft of the waterpump on the port side.
 
I had a 1275 on the stand so I took a picture. This is on the left side block (oil pan is off).

The easiest way to differentiate a 948 from a 1275 would be whether there are removable side covers on the left side of the block. 948s had 'em, 1275s didn't!!
 
If it wont do 74 miles an hour unless your drafting a truck its a 948, /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whistle.gif
 
I believe you'll also find that the heater take-off on the cylinder head is angled at 45 degrees to the rocker-shaft on the 1275 engines. While you can put a 1275 cylinder head on a small bore block, it typically requires pocketing the block to do so.
