How old is "dead"

Is there an accepted date or range of dates beyond which a thread should be left alone? Some forums get pretty grumpy over reviving a dead thread.
I like to read way back in the forums. When tempted to reply I usually don't due to long te inactivity.
 
Short answer - no. My philosophy is, if someone replies to an old thread, and said thread is thus revived after a long period of inactivity, you never know what new insights might be brought to the subject, perhaps by a member who is new since the thread was first started. This forum doesn't get grumpy unless you use profanity or bring your politics into the discussion, otherwise we're a pretty forgiving and accepting lot! :p
 
Some Threads are timeless our LBC are as old as we are and the subjects may just need a refresher course. If someone needed say a part or repair today it was needed months or years ago. Nothing is ever lost just misplaced for a long time. Madflyer
 
When this new Forum format came to be, I looked back at some of my posts, questions, comments.... Before I knew it, I went down the rabbit hole of hey, here's my first ever post! All still here - mind you 15 years ago!! Some really funny comments and a bunch of us are still here.
