How much practice does it take to fly this?

Wow. If not careful, that thing could very quickly get out of range of the remote!!!
 
That guy must be a very experienced RC pilot to be able to keep that thing on range.
 
I presume the very different underside colour is to help him keep his orientation top and bottom.

On the beach one evening last year I watched someone practicing with a model helicopter. Wish I had videoed him because it was an amazing display of control.

When I was flying RC a guy in our club had a jet that was stupid fast
one evening he was flying and it was dead still out
people were egging him on to lower and lower down the run way inverted at speed
it was fun to watch
then it happened he was just off the run way over the grass and he bumped the grass he had the power switch mounted just behind the canopy so pushing it back would turn it off
the fastest most spectacular spin and crash I ever saw
