Would jump in your Big Healey tomorrow for a 200-300 mile trip with just a quick check of the oil, water, and tires? I never fear driving my car on the interstate whether it be rain, cold, or shine!

Your turn!

Unless I am actually in the middle of a project, my car is always up for a trip! Been that way for over thirty years now. The problem now seems to be more my wife and I not being up for the trip than the car!!

Never ever a problem. We regularily put over 150 miles a week on her. Problem is, we're in the Washington DC area, and there are way too many crazy people on the interstates, so we always are on the back roads. But that's ok, because they're a lot more fun and senic, anyway.

No problem. This is a regular thng for me. Sunday I decided at the last miniute to go to Infineon Raceway for the Wine Country Classics about 200 miles round trip as the crow flies about 300 as the Healey flies up coastal highway one. Here is a pic of one competetior. All the photos and a few videos are on my site in Photos, 2006 Wine Country Classic. I was lucky enough to watch from the announcer's boot at the highest point on the track spotting car numbers for one of the announcers. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Without a doubt, I'm up for a 200 miler any time.
Although I have to admit that with my fuel pump leaving me on the side of the road this weekend, I'm perhaps a little more nervous about going to far out into the boonies. That should be rectified within a day or two and then, oh yeah!

We're so used to problems with the fuel pump that when it quit last Sunday on the way to the British car show in MD, I didn't even get out of the drivers seat. My wife just lifted up the back seat, wiggled the wires, whacked it on it's side, and it started clicking and away we went. I guess I should pay a little more attention to it before the weekend, though.

a 200-300 mile trip

Come on David .. 200-300 mile trips .. those are quick spins. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif How about 4000-6000 mile trips? Michael Oritt routinely makes those. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Can't say that I love interstates/freeways around here (southern California). Would rather be driving the twisties!

Cheers,
John (hoping to get back on the road this summer!)

I've had my BJ8 about 6 months now, and prior to that my last Healey was 40 years ago (100-4 which was doing well to make it 10 or 15 miles down the road without burning my foot and then overheating)... So I have been "going through" everything for months now, changing things to my liking, and have been careful thus far not to venture very far from home base "just in case" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif This weekend drove about 100 miles, first to a car show then around some back country roads, and everything worked fine /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif So at this point I'm probably up for a 200 miler but have to admit I'm still in the "getting to know the Healey" mode and still am carrying spare parts, wire, fuses, some tools etc in the boot /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

You know you have arrived when you don't take tools and spares with you, hehe.
