OK..sorry I know I'm bending the rules on this one and maybe I"m not taking it serious enough...or maybe they are taking it too serious.......but:

HOW MANY TOYS DOES ONE HAVE TO EAT BEFORE THE LEAD POISONING BECOMES AN ISSUE!!!!

and keep those kids from eating your original paint chips coming off those cars!!!!

Re: HOW MANY DINKY'S ARE CONSIDERED DANGEROUS

I heard that on the Radio this morning too. I'm not sure how much lead you have to eat for it to cause health issues, but there ~are~ laws in place to prevent the use of lead based paints in toys and other products. Those laws are there because someone or some committee(s) found there are health issues at stake.

Personally, I'm glad Mattel is making the recall, at least they're correcting the mistake. It's also good to see that China is putting a crack down on Chinese Companies that violate Health and Safety regulations that are established around the world.

Unfortunately, it seems there are a lot of products that are making it into the consumer market before the flaws are found. Some are more serious than others (e.g. the tire recall earlier this year).

rob..point taken...guess it's hard to draw the line...

Re: HOW MANY DINKY'S ARE CONSIDERED DANGEROUS

Mebbe Mattel sent the spec's in English. Interpreters lead it and concruded long assumptions.

bibber, i believe its an effort to curtail the "accumulative" effect of lead contact associated with the exposure to children, in the housing industry one of the tests inspectors do on houses that are for sale is lead paint content on the interior and exterior, medically it has been proven that small amounts of lead has severe negative affects on physical and mental development of young children. just loooaeke alteea myee! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif

yea...it seems to be a more serious issue than I gave it credit..seems to be a problem with toy magnets coming loose as well.....but sorry I gotta do it....

there's a whole new way to check your new rides for bondo..
if your kid sticks to it it's all metal....I'm sorry, Ill be more mature now!!!

bibber, after three days missing my neighbors 2 year old kid was located skidding on his butt along the north pole. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

I grew up with lead paint everywhere and I have no problem with my cars running as they do I wonder if a better fuel would have to be a new kind of concrete I suspect but wood should help if you can't put up a good lawn chair has a comfortable area.

Bruce and anthony...I suspect a few too many lead paint chips there!!!

I really mean it this time..(deep breath)...I'm better now!

Same story here. My mother used to bring me small bottles of mercury to play with - they used it for a cleaning process where she worked. My father often brought me lead bars from the body shop. My train layout was in the cellar, where our old furnace was asbestos wrapped.

Maybe they just didn't like me....
