TR6 How fast can a TR6 go?

Whats the highest MPH you have heard of for a TR6?
Slammed to the ground with a front air dam and a flat sheet aluminum bottom when will it fly?
Thinking about trying the Maxton mile or maybe the Texas mile.
With a 2.50 gear, a 29.5" tire and 6500RPM I get 228 MPH and with a 10% slip from my converter I come up with about 205.
Yea I know its cold and I am bored.

I can't answer this question -- but I know just how cold and bored you are! (You don't drive it in the salt, do ya?)

I know from working the drag races at TRF Summer Party that the front end starts to lighten for some of the fastest cars in the quarter mile. It was air buffeting the bonnet. One driver running nitrous ran with it off trying for best times.
But aerodynamics gave out before the engine.

Cold! It is forecast to be minus 34 C here tonight and that is prety close to the same number in F (minus 40 is the same C and F if I recall)

The old Ford Ranger was not a happy camper when she fired up this morning at minus 25.

Currently 46F @12:45 am. High Thursday should be 72F! And as far as fastest TR goes:

I HATE THE COLD !!!!

have I said that before....

Im having Deja vue all over again

Ive got my stock engine TR6 up to 92 mph, then I got scared from the shaking, probably coulda went a couple more mph....

Balmy weather here. Only -14F with -40 wind chill this morning.

I've had mine just over 110 mph and still accelerating strong. Then I happened to look at the speedo and decided I did not need to be going that fast. Not sure how close the speedo is at that speed. I have gone past those road-side radar boards from 25 to 45 and it is right on at those speeds.

I would be surprised if a 6 that was specifically preped for the salt flats would do better than 160.

South Pole -18F. Here -24. A bunch of snow but too cold for sledding. Cold and bored.
I went 65 mph once.
This tow truck was seen early this morning iced up near here after the MGA lost traction.

Top speed of a TR6 new was listed as 119mph.

Wind resistance, vehicle weight, engine torque, and other variables aren't accounted for in that online calculator. Nasa has a set of videos available that talk about wind resistance and drag and they're available on wikipedia.

To reach 200mph, you'll need about 600hp, probably a lot more.

But if the car was lowered, windscreen off, very narrow tires, a little help with some sheet metal. engine built for max hp at top end, gearing, and a driver that has no fear!

But then would it still be a Triumph?
It would be a triumph of human engineering! Like TRED's car! But I would be curious to know what the fastest modified Triumph-powered car could do.

There was a Blue Turbo TR6 Video i saw

but it was just the shell of a tr6

kinda reminded me of a funny car.

OMG that thing was fast

not really a Trimuph

We had -37F in the Brainerd Lakes area of MN this morning. I was thinking of doing some wetsanding on the spitfire but was told that hard water is bad for paint. Oh well, by the weekend it is going to be near the +30 mark. Meanwhile it is a good book and a movie for me.
