How do I stop

the PM indicator from flashing when there are no new PMs for me to read?

Try going under "My Stuff" and select cookies. Then try clearing those cookies.

I tried that, but it is still the same whether I access the site using Chrome or IE. I thought about deleting the PMs, but I would like to keep some of them.

Have you read all of your PMs? Make sure you don't see any YELLOW folders indicating either an unread PM or a PM with a new, unread reply.
