TR2/3/3A How do I remove fan on TR3 heater motor?

I looked through past BCF entries and I saw discussions of taking the heater fan motor apart. But I can't get the brass nut loose that holds the fan to the motor shaft. How do I get the fan loose from the motor shaft? Thanks!
Regards,
Bob

As I recall, you can disassemble the motor from the top plate and put it out through the bottom with the fan still attached. Then just use a wrench on the nut and hold the blade with your fingers.

But I don't recall that nut being brass, so maybe I'm confused again.

Thanks Randall! I took the fan and motor off the top plate as you mention. Then I tried to hold the fan shaft with a pair of pliers and tried to turn the brass nut with a wrench, but it would not budge. I wasn't sure if that brass nut is screwed onto the fan shaft or press fit and if screwed on, is it right handed or left handed thread?
Regards,
Bob

The threads are standard, not reverse. Put a tube wrench on the nut, hold the fan by the blades and sharply tap the tube wrench with a hammer handle. The nut compresses a collet on the fan hub.

Randall is lacking his usual spiffy pictures so here's mine, for what it's worth Tom

Sorry about that ... haven't touched a heater motor since before I got a camera. TS39781LO appeared to not have had one from the factory and the one I got with TS13571L is still sitting in a cardboard box with a bunch of other useless junk

Ah, very good! Thanks! I may not have been pushing hard enough in fear of breaking something. This will help a lot!!
Regards,
Bob
