GT6 How common are 2500 GT6 engines in TR6s?

I thought I had a GT6 engine in my TR6 acording to the engine serial number. Of course, I did not think to check when I bought my non running project car since they look the same. Then while repairing a bad piston I discovered the engine had been rebuilt to TR6 specs. Along the way before I realized the the change I had bought a GT6 engine cylinder head which I could not use because of the compression differences. I sold the head to someone who had a GT6 engine in his TR6. After he bought it he too discovered the samething I did. Both our engines are KD series engines. I remember someone else had the same situation also on these boards. I would not think this is a local rebuilder's techniqe since he is in Texas and I am in Oregon. I was wondering how common this is. Or at least if you have a GT6 engine in your TR6 you may want fo investigate it's displacement.

Interesting,
As long as I don't have an engine with the prefix CT
