How about

I've used about five rolls of that same stuff from the local hardware store to do the entire interior of my A35 Austin and the floors of my bugeye. Easy to use, CHEAP, works well on heat and helps with resonant sound. Did I mention CHEAP?

Glen Byrns

I like the cheap factor Glen. The "auto version" must be more dense??? Being in fact the BE is a convertible, how much sound needs to be deadened? I would think that if it stops a bit of resonance it should work fine.

What a BE needs is something in the doors. Hard to find something good and cheep. ie comes in very small quanitys.

I used the duct insulation on my big Healey, a Mini, and the A40. Works real good for heat control.
Cheap, works well for insulation and sound.
But road noise in a Sprite will always be there.
I used this stuff to kill the heat on the tranny tunnel of the Healey, and to stop the tin can effect of the Mini and A40.
But for noise in a Spridget, get some jute carpet backer,

I would just like the doors not to clang when they latch, LOL.

By carpet backing do you mean the foam stuff?

I bought some of that stuff, but ended up not using it after finding out about a product called Second Skin Damplifier. IT WORKS GREAT! And Jack, I used a little on my B doors and now I have that "luxury car thud" when I close them. It also really cut down on the heat of the exhaust running under the driver side.

Here is my journal entry on how I installed it in my B.

Here is a great site on sound deadening and heat control.

I'm thinking about using this https://www.custombuildingproducts.com/Pr...ser=pro&lang=en on my B/E along with a foil heat barrier on top, then carpet. I just got done using it in my house in the master bedroom closet. I needed an underlayment that was only 1/8 in think in order to match the hard wood floor I installed and tile floor in the bathroom. Worked well. Easy to use and about $1.05 per sq ft at Home****.

Paul

Thanks Paul. Something to look at while perusing tomorrow.

John, so you like this stuff? Looks like 20 yards ought to do a BE.

It's a high quality product similar to Dynamat but not quite as expensive. As I recall you can get 40 ftsq for $110. That was plenty for my B and should be more than enough for your BE.

I only need enough 12"X18" times 2 for the doors. Scraps or left overs I could fit together would even do for about that size if anyone has any?

It will be awhile, Jack. I will probably be ready to buy and install the stuff at the end of the month. I will send you my extras.

Good deal no rush at all, I just need some peices to do the doors inside, I can cut and paste.

Okay, at .35-.40 lbs per square foot this stuff is pretty heavy. Obviously wanting to keep the wait down the BE. My question would be where should it go? I see that John placed it all over, just wondering about the amount of weight I will be adding to the little fellow.
