How About a "Sightings" Forum?

I've seen this on another forum.A place
to post about British cars you've come accross.
Does anyone else think that this is a good idea?

Re: How About a "Sightings" Forum?

You'd better keep out of Stevie Wonder's way then,Bill. 'cos he sure will!! :jester:

Might be a good Idea, tho I very seldom see another LBC about.

Stuart.

Re: How About a "Sightings" Forum?

I saw Stu's car once. ( but he didn't see mine.)

Re: How About a "Sightings" Forum?

Brilliant! I've actually gotten to know some local Lotus folks through the sightings thread on the Elise message boards. Great idea for people to identify one another.

OK I'll Start:

Rubber bumpered MG Midget Red, I was in the Spit turning on to Westinghouse Road, Elmira NY. He was across the intersection turning the same way. Drove slow toward Elmira Heights so he could catch up, but he turned off. Thought I knew most of the LBC's around here....

Auto Bianchi on a Volkswagen Bug chassis.

Re: How About a "Sightings" Forum?

I saw two new-ish Bentley convertibles yesterday at different times. One had the top down.

Also the new Aston Martin Vantage Roadster (Lin says it looks like a big Miata...I agree).

A Bentley sedan (saloon?) today.

A Lambo Gallardo last week.

An older Rolls Royce (80s vintage) this week.

About a dozen new Porsche 997s.

And a perfect red TR3 with chrome wire wheels.

In Morris County, NJ. Sixth wealthiest county in the US

In March I was through Minot in my Midget, when two new Bentleys (one pale yellow and one dark charcoal colored) and a big Mercedes pulled up behind me at a stop light.
They followed me for several stoplights before pulling parallel for a while and each giving the Midget a good looking at as they cruised past. They then whooshed off. I don't think the drivers of the Bentleys got the significance (probably didn't even know what I was driving), but I did.

Re: How About a "Sightings" Forum?

Bentley guys prolly thought another Bentley guy had broken down and was using the 'life boat' car to get home.

Re: How About a "Sightings" Forum?

A few weeks ago, I had driven my daughter to her place, from the airport, I think, and was going up the alley a block north of her place. I saw an open garage with two TR6s parked in it. I pulled into the drive, (sadly, not in my TR3) got out, and had a lovely conversation with the woman who owned them. Apparently they are more than just a "bloke's car."

About a week ago, I went to a place that sells Red Line oils, to pick up some gearbox oil. Next to that garage, was a smaller garage where half of the Twin Cities supply of E Type Jags must have been sitting. There were six of 'em! He looked at my car -- I looked at all of his... He said he was an "Italian / British Specialist" shop. Didn't see any Italians, But there sure were a ton of Jags!

Re: How About a "Sightings" Forum?

"Jag" is Italian for
Bring to the shop on Thursday. Drive on Monday

Re: How About a "Sightings" Forum?

Moseso
There was a garage in MPLS that did only jags Coventry Cat House is that were you saw these? If so the owner has some V12 rear engine jag. It’s racing green super low slung glass over the engine sort of early Ferrari looking you cant miss it if its there. Nothing like a garage full of kittys

Re: How About a "Sightings" Forum?

The Italian people were probably out driving their cars.
The Jags were "in the shop".
