How 2 remove "static" and white dust ?

Hi, when I was washing and polishing my car yesterday, I came across a problem. It seems that my car had "static"
You know, it attracts DUST ! Like when you put your hand near it, your hair will be attracted to the car. Is there anyway to remove off this "static" from the car? Is this normal?

Then this morning I found my car covered with little white specks of dust that seems to be the residue of yesterday waxing session. How would you recommend to remove off these dust.
By wiping, will it scratch the car as I will be dragging the dust over my car paintwork.
Any better methods to suggest?

Thanks.

Re: How 2 remove "static" and white dust ?

I personally like the California Duster. It seems soft enough that it won't scratch the paint itself, and the oil in the fibers traps the dirt so that its chances to do so are limited.

Mind you, my car is a Silver 97 Ford Escort with clear coat. Results on a car with value might differ.

Why don't you try and earth strap from your car to the ground.......It might work?

any other way other than earth strapping?

Easy answer: Don't clean it any more.

Okay, I was only kidding. I am assuming that you can buy an old-fashioned feather duster. That will remove the dust without scratching, and just light flicks without any pressure will do the trick.

As regards the static, I am still pondering that one.

Lolz... you know those colorful fluffy dusters... wonder if we can create our own static charge on it so that it can "suck" up the dust

When I wax my car, I wash it again. Gently with clean cloth and water and proper soap. Then I dry it with a shami. Gets rid of dust, wax stuck under mld's, and static. Good wax lasts many washes.

The California duster (and clones) work great, and the more they're used the better they seem to work.

Zaino detailing spray supposedly helps to kill static and helps keep dust from being attracted to the paint. I don't know if other detailing sprays are advertised to have that feature, but it's worth looking for.
