Well, I advanced the timing up a bit, about one full turn of the knob. Put in premium fuel this time (duh!). And went for a drive in the heat. 107 miles full circuit, mostly in 85-95 degree ambient temp. Car ran mostly around 210-220 in the high heat. It gave no sign of boiling over, no vapors, smells, spewing, etc. Just ran great! Mostly mountain and freeway drive, but also stopped a dozen times times in hot parking lots. No overflow spilling noted on the asphalt.
Once, at the peak hour of afternoon heat, the temp gauge did reach 230 while going into a parking lot off the freeway. No adverse behavior.
At the end of the trip I refilled the gas tank and computed 20 mpg. Does this seem about right?
And, BTW, the cockpit insulation job I did earlier this year worked perfectly! No hot feet or drafts!
Just giving everyone an update.
