Hot Computer?

I guess if you are pushing your processor or processors to thier limits and beyond {Overclocking to the max} you probably need some sort of elaborate cooling system like that.
Some egotistical types would instal that kind of thing just to try to impress thier friends I guess!
As for me, I have much better things to spend my time on.
My 2,200 AMD runs sweet, NO complaints, and yea I have a couple of extra fans attached here and there.
I never have been overly impressed with gagetry anyway.
Besides ................ spring a leak with that conglomeration and I bet you are going to hate it!

Leaks are a risk. It's always best to test the cooling system for 24 hours under its own power, with no power to the computer at all.

The biggest reason for water cooling is not for the cooling itself, but for the complete lack of noise. It's nearly silent.

Yeah, fan noise is making me think of water cooling. I had to buy a DVD player to watch movies, watching them from the computer was too distracting. Kinda like the GF vacuuming during the game.

3.0 processer, 2 Geg ram, very high end video card. 6 fans. As long as I keep it clean no problems.

Agreed with the water cooling bit. It's more effective than air cooling regardless of whether or not you are overclocking your system. I made a home build water cooling system several years ago out of an old aluminum heatsink, 1/2" thick lexan, silicon RTV, clear vinyl hose, a 3lb butter tub, submersible aquarium water pump, and an oil cooler from a early 90's 9-series Volvo. It was very very quiet. So quiet, you'd never know it was on if it weren't for the monitor and power LED on the PC.

It worked great for about a year and a half. That is until I went on vacation for a month. When I came back, I discovered someone (I had roommates with kids at the time) had powered my system on without turning on the cooling system first (I never got around to connecting the water pump to the PC power switch). End result was who ever messed with my PC caused the CPU to over heat and warp the lexan, and thus a leak formed at one of the seams. I know it wasn't any of the adults; they knew about the extra steps to turn the system on.

Anywho, I haven't messed with water cooling since. But it's been coming back to my list of things I want to do. Even with monthly cleanings, my PC and my Mac Linux boxes are ever so slowly becoming a bit of a nuisance with the levels of noise their fans make.

Fan noise? What fan NOISE?

Hmmmmmmmm I guess there IS an advantage to bieng nearly deaf because of working in VERY noisy environments.

OH is that why I have to turn the TV up to What my family calls unberable levels
