This car will be auction in my home town, along with a Bently 8 and Austin Cab

looks orginal, body is rust bucket

Just my luck, "Time and Date to be Announced". I'll have to keep the link and check frequently.

Your picture of the Hornet is different than the two at the auction site. Have you seen the car up close? If so, have you had an opportunity to look at how much rust the car has?

I go by it ever day, and those photos are the ones I took at auction location. I have some more I already took I can load tomorrow. if your interested in this car I can take some close ups of rust. Car is right hand drive

Thanks for the additional pictures. I'm going to post a link to this thread over in the Mini part of the board.

It looks like all the unique chrome parts are on the car and that's great. Most of the body parts are common with the Mini apart from obvious areas like the bonnet and boot lid. What concerns me from the pictures so far is the rust on the bottom of the boot lid. Repairing that one will be a bit involved... but probably possible. The only other car that shares that part is the Riley Elf and therefore... a replacement panel may be hard to come by. The car looks like a nice find.

At least it appears to be a fairly flat/straight panel.
Should be relatively easy to fab up a patch panel (as long as the supporting metal behind is intact).

I'd also like to know what the rust situation is on this car. Floor boards, trunk, sills, rain gutters, body seams, around al the windows, etc.

I'd also like to know if the engine turns over and/or runs.

Is there an inspection period?

(I guess I can contact the auction house directly to inquire...)

Looks like it will be a nice project for someone!!

"Cheers!"

You can walk right up to it and look it over, once they set a sale date people will be trying to crank it. this is how I took photos, just sitting out in a field.

It sold for $1000!
We bought a Riley Elf on the same day but 300 miles away for $600.
And that is the rest of the story........

"Speedster" sold for $3300. Bentley was $8000. Some good projects for reasonable money I guess....
