Horn troubleshooting - up-date

Greetings,
About a month ago I posted a query about fixing my Spitfire horns. I rcvd some great ideas from grounding to the proper power truly being present. I did persevere and succeed. Why?
From the Brit Leyland manual, I wired up a new relay w/ 3 wires: W1 for the horn sw, C1 to power and C2 to the horns. No avail.
I bought a simple, std horn relay locally. # 85 for the horn sw, #30 to power and #87 to the horns. The instructions, said to not use #86, some ground it. No avail. The clue is # 86.
Resolution: All connections above are correct but missing one. The diagram in the B/L Manual [and Haynes manual] are wrong. To #86 connect power, which I split from # 30. What happens is when you ground the horn sw, it allows power to flow from #85 to 86 in the relay, which then closes the 2nd sw in the relay from #30 to #87. This then routes the main power to the horn. Poof, I have horn sounds! [BTW - the Haynes manual has more wiring errors too]
I'm sure others knew this, but it may save others the hours & angst with which I was frustrated. Cheers! Don
