TR2/3/3A Horn Cover

I just learned that the 1955 wind tone horn cover is smaller than the 1957 horn covers. Of course I figured this out after completely rebuilding the earlier horn, only to find the later cover I have won't fit. All the internal parts are interchangable, but the later horn has an extra edge to hold the larger cover.

I realize it's a real long shot, but anybody have a 1955 or earlier cover and/or complete earlier horn they could part with for a price?

Thanks...

Don't guess I knew there was a difference myself. Email me a picture of both and I will go the the "stock room" and see whats there.

Here a couple details about the early vs. late horns.

In the following pic you can see the edges on the horn castings. The left is the earlier style, which is absolutely flat on the side that mounts the vibrator mechanism. The casting on the right is the later style, which has a small ridge completely around the flat side.

I would take a picture of the bell covers...but frankly they are identical, except the earlier style is about 1/8" smaller in diameter. The bell mounting strap is also slightly smaller for the earlier horn...

And for Marv...this is the horn that I have, so I am looking for the opposite of this picture. The manual says they are marked "H" and "L" for the note...but the one I have has no such marking. The later horn does.

Thanks!

Have you looked in the throat of the horn thats where the H or L will be. I'm guessing that is the pass side horn. When you can post the other side of the horn. Thats where there is a difference or all so of the mounting base. Its made different as well. I have two of the smaller horn connector braces.

The other horn spirals the opposite direction. I'll check the throat when I get home (working again...gotta love the American dream of more work for less pay!?!). I have found 4 different style mounting tabs. I'm not too worried about that, since I decided you can never see both at the same time anyway.

Oh, another characteristic of the earlier horn is the screws to hold it together. The later horns use rivets.
