Hoping someone has this measurement easily available.

I am finishing up restoring a BJ7. It's only been about a 25 year process.... It's almost time to start again from the beginning. As I try to put the rear tractor seats in, it appears they are very tight even before being upholstered. I am wondering if someone has a measurement from rear wheel arch to rear wheel arch before the interior is installed. I had a local body shop do some body work to replace the rear wheel arches and I am wondering if they brought them closer together then should be......

From the back slope of the rear wheel arches - the carpeted area occupied by the rear seat rest - it measures around 39.75 to 40.5 inches. Hope your measurements are close to these.

On an undisturbed BJ7 with no interior upholstery installed:
40" measured between points directly underneath the lowermost rear seat belt studs, 40" measured along the angle between the seat structure and the slope of the seat back structure. 40-1/4" measured along the front corner between the seat structure and the rear floor bulkheads.

Hi Peter, I measure exactly 40" between bare metal wheel arches. I am just about to fit my carpet and rear seats so will now look to see if I have an issue.

Regards

Barry
