Hood/Top Snaps

What kind of snaps do replacement hoods/tops come with these days?

I recall the OEM top had some cheesy snaps on the back (below the window) that were made of some kind of plastic and had "male" snap ends on the out side so the boot cover would snap on to the lower part of the top.

How are you using the snaps for the boot cover?

I installed a new Robbins top on my TR250 a few months ago and it came with black female snaps for the sides and chrome male studs for the seven along the back of the top. They provide several extras of each. All were made of brass/steel, the black one being painted (or powder coated perhaps). I bought a snap installation tool at the local hardware store, which I used with a C-clamp to apply a nice progressive pressure and they were a "snap" to install.
