it has been many moons since I dissasembled my midget and I don't remember how the hood mounts go back. There are two ways they can go. All the books that i have all show the older style hood mount that goes back into the cockpit. Mine is the newer style. anybody got a picture?

77 Midget?
Here are mine....

I will be hopefully installing the hood mounts tomorrow and painting the inside of the hood with spray rustoleum, then I might get some help and install the hood on friday, or I might wait a while. It looks good being able to see the engine /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Doesn't it feel good to see something there and not a "hole"?

I got lucky on the body and couldn't decide whether to paint or touch up and keep the original. I did paint my engine bay black while I had the motor out though. It was something I could do and it did clean it up from 30 years of grime and oil.

OMG! We've rebuilt 7 cars in three years (sold 3) drive 3 and working on 1. I guess its easier if there are four people involved cause one is always in the garage. I lose my oldest in the fall to college, but hubby, me and the youngest make three.....
We also do very little body work. In general, we try to buy "good shells" and redo engines and interior.

I would do different next time but I got this one for $800 and put about $150 into it and drove it for a summer and loved it. I swore I would never touch another LBC I worked on everybodys old Minis and allegros and marinas and maxis, etc in England. I had people just giving me cars that would not pass MOT(british inspection) I got really burned out on it all, but a guy at work had this midget and it had tranny problems and he found out that I used to work on them and I looked it over and could not resist. It should be a good solid car when I get done. No rust and strengthened where it aught to be for driving and being trustworthy for trips, etc. I have put way more time into this car than I should have.
