...hot....tired.

Update at 11.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled forum (I'm heading for the shower)

I was there too. Fortunately Im 25 minutes from home. Didnt meet up with anyone from this site, but im sure I walked right by you.
This was my first show, and enjoyed myself, although I was taken on an alternator I bought. No invoice, no way to track down the thief.

I looked for your Cub hat and speckled car everywhere & never could find you.

I had the Cubs hat on, but the speckled car never made it. I needed an alternator, and so I drove a civilian car.

P.S. Im glad you went, and better luck next time with hooking up /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif. I did bring my cell phone just in case you or Mike called.

Doubltful Twist has a party next year, with the big one in Tennessee! Meet ya in Gatlinburg next year for the Nationals, June 21-25. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Skipped the shopping trip with the girls and hung around the cars and the guys aka wrenches /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif Paid off, convinced dahubby I needed overdrive and a new carb! Who needs antiques when there are car parts to be had?

I see you had a 66' Mustang years ago. I have had 1- 64 1/2 2- 66's and 1 73'. Yes I love Mustangs, but my new love is in my 73' MGB. Your right about maybe not having a Summer revival for next year, but I'll be going to Nationals for sure.
Did you end up going to any of my suggested restaurants, or did you find some other good ones?

Ahh, we ate at Brann's Friday night. Was very good and the server we had was excellent...she made a hefty tip off 13 people, 6 separate checks. Had a great drink there that came in a shaker, Captain Morgan, Midori, OJ and pineapple juice.

Then last night we ate at Grand Rapids Brewery. The others had been there before and really liked it. It was GREAT. I absolutely loved the salmon and wild rice with the almonds and dried cherries in it. Everyone got something dif I think and it all looked fabulous. I'll def go back there again! Thanks again for the recommendations.

Many times, they are the same thing, no? Glad to hear eveyone had fun!

I'm glad your drive home was more uneventful than mine.
In a stretch of constructiom, a semi tried to occupy the same space I was in.

darn, these Midgets are built strong. I have some slight damage on the rear quarter panel, the tailight and side marker lights need replacement, but nothing unfixable.

When I got out of the car, I thought there would be a lot more damage.

Mike

Mike - was nice to meet you and your wife.

**Side note** Mike's car was DOA at the hotel (We were staying at the same hotel. I saw this Midget with the hood up, what Mike, most of Friday & Sat morning?) At the time I didn't realize it was Mike's car! Met Mike at the registration table the morning of the show. He had hitched a ride with someone in a van, his car was still DOA. Later that night at the awards ceremony, I heard Mike's name announced. (forgive me Mike, I forget the catagory) So, perserverence does pay off. He left the show, fixed the car and still managed to get back AND win an award!

I'm sorry to hear about the Midget. MGs are sturdy little cars. I found that out the hard way last fall!

You should toy with the idea of coming to STL for our big "All British Car Show" in September.

I am sorry they did not award a "Most Ambitous Parking Lot Repair" award. I think I would have won it.

For those who were not there, about 20 miles out of town on the way up, I dropped a valve. The spring collar disintegrated. I drove the remainder of the way on 3 cylnders. I was very surprised that I was able to get parts in town from stock! With help from a few friends, the head was pulled, new valve and guide fitted and put back together.

I have pics if anyone wants to take a look.
I haven't figured out how, or if, we can attach pics to this forum.

If anyone wants to see them, email me.

Mike

I finally got some pics of my Midget. I haven't figured out how to post photos, but if anyone wants to see them, email me off the list. The damage is not as bad as I thought would have happened.

Send them to me (my email is in my profile) and I'll post them for you!

Thanks to Mark, I think I have found out how to post the pics.

The damage was minimized because 1) the car is solidly built, and 2) because it is so light, it was pushed instead of the metal being heavily rearranged.

MIke

Email them to me Mike, I'll post for you.

Or...

Upload the photos you want to post to www.photobucket.com

Afterwards, right click on the url and 'copy' it.

Come back here, start a thread, then use the 'image' button. Paste the url in there and wallah!

((perhaps I should check my email first, huh Mike?))

~sheepish grin~

Working on them now.
