I just bought Michael Andrew's tutorial set for the Canon R5 camera. The tutorial is divided into 4 separate videos covering different aspects of the camera - the total time of the set if a whopping 10 hours and 30 minutes! Yikes! By comparison, the tutorial I bought for my Canon 7D Mark II was a little over 4 hours total.

And likely you'll have to go through a couple of those 10.5 hours more than once. But there ought to be a lot you've already got that's "transferable" from the 7D too.

Talked to a guy I've known for decades on Wednesday eve, a local Pro and Canon/MAC devoted. He's "in" with Canon well enough that they loaned him the "Black Ship" mirrorless body that hasn't been announced yet (beyond rumors). He had some shots on his 'phone he showed me. Remarkable resolution, even scaled down to keep the things viewable on the cell. But intro cost rumors exceed $6K!!

After we got the D7500's and I was considering another body as a spare/backup, had to back off the D500 APS-C and go for a used D7200 rather than put out the extra money and have two dissimilar sets of controls to contend with. Bad enuff this old dog has to un-learn some life long habits going from analog to DSLR!

Hmm, if I was going to hazard a guess, I'd guess that it is either the rumored, but not officially announced, R5 Mark II or, more likely (based on price), the long anticipated Canon R1 (which will be their "flagship"). The R1 is long rumored but nothing even remotely official - likely a "full body" (built in battery grip) that will be a jack of all traders and a master of all too!

The inference (with details and evidence) it was the rumored R1. And I have to say what I saw was stunning. He did some H.S. senior shots, "environmental" stuff, absolutely incredible.

Be prepared to experience a major GAS attack.

He'd no info on a release date but if Canon is "loaning" them out, the chances are it'll be soon. Photographers (ESPECIALLY Bob!) can't keep their mouths shut. Canon may even be doing it to hype the thing, knowing the ones who get early units are incapable of keeping it to themselves. Egomania is not an unknown trait among the "Hire ME! I'm really really great!" shooters.
