MGA Holy Blisters! MGA Paint Question

Daimlerdb18,

Don't be too quick to beat yourself up. Another possibilty is that your painter didn't wait long enough between application of the base coat and then the clear. The base coat could have gassed through the clear.

Man, if you waited a week before you took it to him I would think that would have been more than enough time for your work to dry out - don't know what products you were using. The PPG products I work with a week would have been way overkill!!

Since there is enough possibility on both sides for things to go wrong maybe he will meet you half way on a redo.

Best of luck and hope you get it resolved.

Same guy did Miss Agatha, same way.

I was looking at the car closely last night and realized that the vast majority of the defects are on the bonnet and boot, with just one or two small bubbles on the front wings, none on the doors or rear wings. D'oh! I really just need to re-do the bonnet and boot lid. Started sanding last night with 1500 grit, just to see if the bigger bulges could be feathered out. It really is just empty space below the surface of the blister. So, I'll pick up some aircraft stripper and epoxy primer today, remove paint from the bonnet and see if the painter will work with me on repainting the two panels. The adventure continues...
Thanks to all for the advice!
