TR4/4A Holes in top of TR4A door

My friend has just bought a Triumph TR4a ....restored and painted....It has little holes in the door tops ..both sides...(about 8 or so) Is it missing a chrome finishing strip, or are there snaps that go on there for something.....it has wind up windows so it can't be for vinyl windows for the convertible top......
Confused and he does know either and since he didn't notice when he bought it i'll ask here

Thanks

Those holes are probably for the snaps that hold on the tonneau cover. On the TR4, they are round and I believe held on with a sheet metal screw.

They are for the snaps of the tonneau. They are held on with rivets just like the ones behind the door that hold the bottom of the side section of the top. The snaps were not installed because the car did not have a tonneau yet. The snaps would have been installed when a tonneau was aquired.

Say hi to Walt for me.

Well that is interesting and makes sense.

If there are 8 holes then maybe it's for the SS Trim piece that goes along the door to match up with the SS Trim on the front fender coming back from the side marker light. 8 holes would be too many for the Tonneau as I believe there were only 3 per door for the Tonneau Cover, actually 8 sounds too many for that SS Trim too but I could be mistaken on that.
