Historic Racing

Aeronca, are you sure it didn't say SRX210? That was the designation for the early racing MGA coupe.

You're correct Steve....and great picture! That's what I was really looking for before I posted the pic above.

I would love to do Vintage or Historic racing, but it seems cost prohibitive. Plus, the more competitive people get, the nastier the track can get, like bumping and so on. I just watched the SCCA Touring run offs on the Speed channel and divided my time thinking about how fun it looks and thinking about how expensive it is. What I really want is track time by myself, but I don't know how to go about doing that yet. I just sent off for info from SCCA about Solo stuff, so we'll see. Let us know what you do.

Try the NASA Time Trial Series.
Great for first-time track experience and no bumping. Stock street cars are fine for TT (we have the same thing in EMRA, but this is more in your area).

Matt- I'm curious...is there still a KC region in SCCA?? I belonged in the early 60's. There was also a club in Jefferson City, as I recall.

did you ever go to MAR in Wentzville? That was the greatest spectator track in the world. Too bad they never had any spectators. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif Saw Paul Newman race there in the early 70's when I was just a kid and thought "why in the world would anyone bother to race a VW Rabbit"

looks like KC is still going strong https://www.kcrscca.org/

I looked them up last year-the races had been cancelled at the main track due to resurfacing. I may get involved in Solo stuff next year. I've sent away for the info.
