Historic Race Circuits Preservation

Am I correctly reading that the group will still confer founding member status for new members now?? I'd pay 30. for that pin even if I never get up there.

Another topic...are you aware of a black SP.250 (race #63)that ran in WI late 1990's? Owner was Bob Moser. Asking because a neighbor now has it & intends to race it around here in VRG. Would be nice to get him some pics of the car in competition.

Here's a link to a site with one picture of the car

You might also try a direct approach to www.MoserRacingLLC.com and ask if they have some photos they could share. Not too familiar with the car myself.

As for the society, I certainly gained the impression that you would get the founder member's pin if you joined, while stocks last, I assume. I already have one.

Not certain if that is the case, but that's how I read it.......

Neat stuff, Steve.

But too bad there's a need for it at all (it would be neat if they still had some of these old street circuits, but I guess that's too much to hope for).

I was active in a group to save the old Bridghampton race track (my first lap there was in '69). The group is still active, but since the track is now a golf course, there's not really much to save.

I am also active with a group that works to preserve old airports. They are still building new road racing tracks (NJ just got one, so did NY and there's one in the works for PA and MASS). But nobody builds new, small airports.

Dale:

Will your friend with the SP250 be attending the Jefferson 500 at Summit Point? It's coming up on May 1st - 3rd.

Also, if he's looking to get a vintage race license, the annual VRG race school is coming up at the Vintage Celebration at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on May 15th - 17th.
You do not need a vintage race car for the race school (someone did it in a Spec-Miata last year).
If he needs more info or has questions, let me know.

Thanks much.

That Waterford Hills story from 1999 was the only mention I could find in my quick & dirty search, too.

Team website mentions starting with the SP, but it looks like they went to Honda's fairly early. I was trying for photo's an individual had taken that might not be available to my neighbor.
