I believe painted. At least that's the only way I've seen them.
 
On the couple I've helped build they've been painted.
 
Yes, they were painted. The entire body shell (inside and out) was painted and trimmed at Mulliners and then trucked over to Canley for assembly. This operation was done the old fashioned way, by a painter and conventional sprayer. This is why there were variations in paint coverage from car to car and in some cases complete areas missed (red oxide primer obvious)
