Hi, my name is Darryl, I am 65 years young, and I live in Wagga Wagga, New south Wales Australia. I am a semi-retired professional entertainer with a great interest in British cars; particularly the 'Big' Healey.
I have owned in my time an AN5 'Bug-Eye' Sprite, a 1926 Austin 12 Clifton 5 seat tourer, and 2 Austin A 30's. At present I drive a 2004 TS Astra CDX sedan.:smile-new:
I hope, as finances allow, to purchase an Austin Healey 3000 Mk.3 BJ8 Convertible, in restored condition, to use as a daily driver. I am hoping to source this vehicle from a member of one of the Austin Healey Owners' clubs in the eastern states of Oz, where the history of the vehicle is known.
My wish is to do some touring with my wife in the Healey, particularly in my home state of Queensland.
We are very lucky to have a close friend that owns a restored Austin Healey BN4 and he restored that from a 'basket case'. He has advised me of the several pitfalls when purchasing a vehicle of questionable background, especially if the car has been imported from the US, particularly where the vehicle has been driven on salted roads in the cold climes. The dreaded rust can be an ongoing problem. We are also very lucky to have been introduced to Peter Janeski from J & H Restorations in Yatala Queensland who is a guru in Healey restorations and can advise and carry out repairs to a concours standard of excellence, if required.
I would have both of these knowledgeable gentleman inspect any vehicle I am interested in purchasing.
I hope to glean some knowledge from this wonderful forum, and thank you for the welcome.
Kindest Regards,
Darryl
