Hi guys,
my name is Jarrod, some may know me from the MG forums on here at BCF. I'm in a situation where the MG isnt much practical for what i do for a living, which is commercial cleaning. MG end story

I'm looking at buying something like a late 70's jag, i think theyr the soverign model. Love the front on those cars! Im looking around ebay for a cheapie, something that needs a few minor things here and there as i am somewhat mechanically nowledgable from owning an mg :p
- jesus, its a necessity! :p
Any factory defects or things that i should look out for in older jags, anything that i should be wary of in the sovreign models would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a million guys.

Jarrod, I dont know how maintenance services and parts costs are in Aultralia and I certainly love older model Jaguars but restoration costs on a Jag can be much more per task than an MGB. My best advice to you is get the best condition Jaguar you can and not go for the cheapest one with many defects (particularaly body rust). You will be many pounds ahead and will have a much more enjoyable Jaguar experience.

I concurr with the pevious writer, the cheapest in a Jaguar means a lot of work, go for a series 4.Sov. In Aus. that series should have quad head lights i.e. just one lens. A3.8 or 4.0 liter engine. I know you have mild Winters so there will be no salt damage to the body. Gas milage is good in this model 89/90. Also check for availability of the usual after market parts at a price you can afford because if you have to deal with a dealership it takes the joy out of ownership. Good luck.

EMGEBE,

Man you'd have to change your user name. Make sure the six under the hood has been taken care of. They'll run forever if taken care of, they're a nightmare if not.
