Your English is far better than my Français.

British Car Forum has members from all over the world, but the majority of us are in the USA. The TR5 was never imported to America, probably due to the cost of compliance with US regulations. Instead, we got a similar-looking car called the TR250. The TR250 was not fuel injected. It had carbs and a 2.5L, six-cylinder engine that was very reduced in power. The TR250 is still a nice car, but the TR5 had much more power so it's more desirable.

Perhaps a better way to put that is that the TR250 was what was left, after they made a TR5 meet US emission regulations. The story I read was that engineers at Leyland had been assured by Lucas that their PI system could meet US requirements. At the 11th hour, they learned otherwise (it failed miserably in actual tests). With no time left for development, they slapped some ZS carbs on (along with the other changes that were required anyway, like lower compression and a very mild cam); and tried to make up for the lack of power by adding stripes and chrome.

This dichotomy continued throughout TR6 production, although they gave up on having two different model names. The US versions got carbs and made less power; while the rest of the world (mostly) got PI.
