Have I ever told you you're a really great photographer? I very much enjoy visiting your photo site.

You mean my latest crap? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif I've been in a major slump lately, not all happy with my most recent photos...

Er... Yeah... Thanks for that comment anyway /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

I'm also somewhat bummed, that yesterday I attended a public memorial service for one of our Canadian soldiers who was killed in Afghanistan, and all I could do was watch from the audience (naked of my camera) while watching all the real photographer-types taking photos with their big lenses (and then seeing their photos in the paper this morning).

So... I chose to go without the camera, and I wouldn't have had the lenses to do it justice, but I could have gotten some killer shots. Not sure when I'll ever get a chance like that again... I know that's not the true spirit of the occasion, just being there was enough in a certain way, but...

As a Canadian I'm glad you didn't take advantage of a situation to get photos. If all of us remember what it means to have these YOUNG PEOPLE taking care of us, then maybe we will respect the sacrifice they have accepted for our peace and safety.
I'm proud to say I'm Canadian and proud to live in this country with people like you.

James,

You're too humble!But I do thank you for sharing

@14dna

I was really chomping at the bit though, I've still got Remembrance Day coming up where I'll have a big lens on rental and hopefully nab some killer photos, I also see it as my way of honouring the veterans (ie. the portraiture aspect of veterans, a visual image for future generations).

@Doug

Maybe I am too humble, I just see other photographers who are so much better than me, and who are much more successful than me too... And overall I wonder sometimes if Calgary is just boring, we don't get the best British/European vintage cars, and we really don't get the best cultural events, in comparison to other spots of the world... For a slight consolation we do have the mountains of Banff, although my specialty isn't really the scenic photography, more the people aspect of photography which would probably be so much better somewhere else... Dunno...
