Hi Chris,

Welcome to the forums!

I'm in Covington - about 25 miles south of Seattle. Good to see another enthusiast in the area!

You've found a great resource here. There's so much expertise here and such a good spirited willingness to help each other that I have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming.

Cheers!

Yes, let's see some pix! It seems like there is a sizable contingent of BCFers forming up there in the northwest!!

i just got a couple of pictures posted. it was bought by my pop in 1973 in a box. he had it back together within a few months. its been driven hard and spent about 10 years in my brothers garage after my dad passed away. it took me most of those 10 years to talk my bro out of it lol. so i have had it for a few years and want to get one more summer out of it.

it has the 948 with a dcoe 40, and a head pop reworked. (he was an aircraft machinist)

still the smoothcase but i have a ribcase i rebuilt for it sitting on the shelf

it has a set of 13x6 fenton slots under it. and finding wide 13" tires wasnt fun. finally found some sumitomo's in that size.

all the upholstery was sewn by my mom, and is still in decent shape.

it does have rust in the a-pillars and rust is under the beading in places, which is why it will need to be gone through again. but in general its still pretty solid

i have been collecting parts for awhile and have a 1098 that was bolted to the ribcase, and i got the disc brakes from a 61 sprite. including the dual master cylinder. pop made a custom one that is in it now. i also have a few other goodies in the shop for it.

im not sure if its going to give me that one more summer. was running a bit flat when i parked it and didnt start right up the other day. we'll see

I enjoyed the photos. Mine was the same color and had the same slotted mags when I dragged it home! Looks like a great project.

Welcome! Neat story, very cool that the car's still in the family.

And yes, we really want to see some pictures!

Welcome Chris,

Well, it looks like we are in the same neigborhood. I live near Olympia, and am finishing a long complete restoration on my 60 Bugeye. I have relied heavily on Forum help during this process. I have met a lot of helpful, patient, and knowledgeable people on the forum. I only wish I had found this site earlier. Another thing you might consider is visiting the annual British car show in Bellevue this July too. No a lot a bugeyes (normally less than 8), but it is nice to use other cars as a reference. Welcome to the forum.

Kevin

welcome Chris,
I live in Marysville and am in the process of restoring a '60 bugeye as well. Maybe we'll meet up at the ABFM in Bellevue this summer.
regards
Mark

it seems there are a few local folks here. i am actually in port orchard.

kevin, did you redo the beading? i'm not sure yet whether to take the body apart or grind it off and smooth it out.

john, you said yours had slots on it? i'm wondering how wide and what the backset was. were there spacers or issues with the tie rod ends?

The Northwest Spridget owners are popping out of the woodwork!!
Hope to see everyone at the ABFM in Bellevue on July 25!

You know, as soon as I stripped the car, I sold them as I didn't care for the look. Sorry, but I don't have any information on them. There are a few photos of them in the spridget gallery.

john.

it was the setup for the wide wheels i was more interested in. i have a full set of 5 slots here. i kinda like em, and in keeping with what pop wanted they will stay on it.

i was really more interested if the tie rod end actually fit under the wheel. on mine, the nut and a bit of the end of the stud on the tie rod end have been ground to clear the inside of the wheel. just wondering.
