Airline History Museum in Kansas City has (or at least had) a 1049 Super Connie which they were trying to keep airworthy. Unfortunately they are in a legal dispute with a corporation which bought out their space and is trying to force-break the existing lease they had on the hangar, so at the moment the planes are locked in a hangar that no one can go and even check on them. I got to go onboard several years ago, quite possibly one of the most beautiful peices of machinery ever made by man....

I got to see that exact plane in the video - I was at Fantasy of Flight in 2012 and it was parked there, but not open for tours so I only got a photo from distance of it. I think this is one of the 3 that Lufthansa purchased with their intent to restore one of them to airworthiness for heritage flights, but they gave up on the project in 2018 or 2019 after doing almost all the restoration. Fantasy of Flight closed down as a museum a while back, have no idea what happened to the massive collection of aircraft.
 
Interesting. On their website Fantasy of Flight shows the museum and collection is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Sure hope so! At least through April anyway.

The large original Fantasy of Flight facility is now closed except for restoration and maintenance. This is where much of the collection is stored. What is open seasonally is the hangar across the runway, housing approximately 20-25 aircraft at any given time, and a gift shop.​

 
I'm glad to hear they are back even in a limited capacity - it was a wonderful place and I was glad to get to see it in its entirety. Now if Airline History Museum up in Kansas City can resolve their lease issues and re-open I'd be very happy - I know they had gotten as far as being able to do engine run-ups on their Connie before things went wrong.
