Is it worth it? Well, only if you want to know about your cars production records. The certificate will show all the applicable serial numbers (engine, body, VIN) as well as production records (original color, built for export?, build date, factory options installed, etc. ).

Consider it a birth certificate for your car. They look nice if nothing else.
 
Its a bit of marketing really because you've got to pay 50 pounds for it and it gives you what Doug says,... if you're lucky..if you're not there might be some mistakes in it (as people on the forum can testify) because its being typed up from very old records.

You often see ads for cars where the owner mentions the car has a Heritage certificate...so what.. it doesnt mean anything or add any value but its nice to have if only to frame it and hang it on the garage wall

The heritage certificate contained the key numbers I needed when I lost my original TR8 keys and my backup keys stopped working; however, one of the numbers on the certificate was incorrect and I had to send for another which was furnished free of charge. Although expensive, it was still quite a bit cheaper and easier than replacing the locks!
 
After that last post it's worth mentioning that the records for the 1960s vintage cars won't have things like lock/key numbers on them. At least mine didn't.

Spec (ie LHD/RHD, NA export etc)
Colour, exterior, trim and hood(roof).

Date of dispach
Destination
Other numbers (key)
Factory fitted equipment (ie wire wheels, heater, whitewall tyres, adjustadle steering column, laminated windscreen, overdrive, tonneau cover)

thank you gentleman all!you have verified exactly,what i suspected,interesting but not required,id rather use the many to purchase expensive parts when needed.sounds expensive,one friend said it would cost 'fifty pounds'but never mentions fifty pounds of what?just kidding,thanks

The price must have just just gone up then, I bought mine for my BJ7 in February / March at a cost of ÂŁ28. I do agree with the majority of comments though, only if you are trying to bring the car back to absolute original is it of any value, my colours are now reversed, black body with red interior is now a red body with black interior. Not sure about the engine number, don't know where it is, it is not in the same position as my old 100/6, any one any ideas where to find it?

thanks for your responce,in answer to your question[location of engine number]its located on a plate on the left hand side,i also own a 63 bj7 black ext-red int.as were the original colors,i think these colors are good in any combo!you can find additional id info on the 'moss motor'sight.thanks again. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
