Holy tailfins Batman my first thought too. And, given that it seems to have the original engine still, perhaps the box on the bonnet is for his lunch!

This is an early prototype from the Bat Man character series when they were looking to appeal to a younger demographic group. A few pilot scenes were shot with Big Bird but he never did get off the ground....
 
Ten years ago, at the New Hampshire Vintage Celebration, I took this photo of this Healey with an "accessory". :rolleye:

Somehow this reminds me of all the VW Beetles out there with bolt-on rear spoiler.
